The Story of the Brakeman

It's the story of the brakeman
From days that have gone by
A man who carried danger as his sign
And though he was a brave man
There's a tear within his eye
The brakeman sees the changes on the line

Say a prayer for the brakeman
Say a prayer for hie wife
With the brakeman on the line
The train will run just fine
Say a prayer for the brakeman

One the coldest winter night
When there is no pale moolight
The brakeman dances all along the cars
And though the night is cloudy
And the storm is gathering near
The brakeman's soul it flies among the stars

Chorus

As I reach my destination
In the mountains or the plains
These visions of the brakeman will abide
And though I knew him poorly
As I traveled on this train
I thank the brakeman for his lonesome ride

Chorus
