Maybe Tomorrow
There's a soldier from days have gone by
And he stares at the ground
And I can't help but see in his eye
All the ages resound
I'll write on the willow
You ride the skies
And maybe tomorrow
We will realize
Well the battle was lost and won
And the flowers regrown
There were children we called on then
Now we've left them alone
I'll write on the willow
You ride the skies
And maybe tomorrow
We will realize

Maybe Tomorrow
I used to live next door to the library annex in downtown Palo Alto in a house that has long since been torn down.
This library annex seemed to be a hang out for some of the guys from the Veterans hospital in Palo Alto.
I couldn't help but be struck by the fact that one Veterans day, while everyone was out waving flags the library annex was closed.
I had made the decision to resist participation in the Vietnam war at all costs, but I was also appalled at the way we treated soldiers who had participated when they returned.
I'm not just talking about the fact that much of the country seemed to blame and/or shame the soldiers, but that the government who had drafted young people to make this ultimate sacrifice would treat them so shabbily when they returned.
