Papermill Blues
This song was inspired by a traditional American folk song 'Winsburo Cotton Mill Blues' (anonymous author) although the tune and chord progression are not all that similar.
But it explores a 'contemporary' version of a similar theme (i.e. scrambling to get by).
I suppose to be truly 'contemporary' I would have to talk about laptops, PDAs text messaging etc...oh well, maybe a future song.
PERFORMANCE HINT: The sequence of letters at the beginning of the chord PDF for this song indicate playing one chord for one beat for each letter. The chorus resolves on the D chord, but goes right into that phrase with no pause. Click the 'Listen' button to hear what I mean.

Papermill Blues
Take a piece of paper make a dollar bill
Make a whole lot then you get to make a will
They say it's kinda lonely livin' up on the hill
I wouldn't really know 'cause I'm workin' in the mill
Chorus:
The minute I say I know I know
The wheel goes around and there I go
The minute you say you're gonna show me the way
We're gonna get lost 'til another day
Workin' in the papermill all of the while
Make a paper dollar bill just to keep the kids in style
Gotta buy the roller blades Gucci kinda shoes
Lord it's gonna give me lot's of papermill blues
Chorus
Make a paper dollar but I just don't care
Rather be sittin' on the mountain somewhere
Say that it's a livin' but I ain't got a dime
Workin' in the papermill all o' the time
Chorus
